Incompany: Women in Trades & Services: Online
Incompany is a business dedicated to supporting and promoting women in trades and services, specifically women working in non-traditional occupations who provide a trade or service in others homes or businesses. Since 1997, Incompany has published two hard copy editions of the Directory of Women in Trades and Services with the support of the Victorian Women's Trust, the State government and other women's organisations such as WIRE and the Thornbury Women's Neighbourhood House. The third edition of the Directory is published as a web based service with women listing online at our award winning website: www.womenintrades.com
Registration for a listing in the online Directory is FREE for women in trades and services. Access to the listings which appear on our website is also a free service to the community and in this manner will reach a wide and varied audience. This online Directory not only significantly increases the profiles and awareness of women in non-traditional employment, but also publishes women's achievements in a diversity of occupations and thereby provides examples to other women regarding the range of career options available to women.
Listing in the online directory is subject to our Advertisers Terms & Conditions and can be viewed on our website.
We urge you to consider this means of promotion for your business as a supplement to your existing promotional tools. There is significant demand for the services of women tradespeople and a need for a resource to co-ordinate their accessibility. We have found women tradespeople to exist in greater numbers than is often assumed and to be working in an amazing range of non-traditional areas. One reason for publishing the first Directory was that women in trades were notoriously difficult to locate, other than through an informal word of mouth basis. Women remained hidden behind the anonymity of non-gender specific phone listings and/or business owners who are frequently male.
The publication of the Directory of Women in Trades and Services – Online:
- Provides all women with the option to exercise choice about who they employ to undertake work in their homes and businesses;
- Allows women working in non-traditional areas to make contact with each other, employ each other, to pass work on to each other and to build business relations and networks;
- Provides a resource to women's groups and organisations such as refuges;
- Provides a resource for those who are concerned about safety and security in their place of work or residence and for those who would simply prefer to employ a woman.
As an advertiser in the Directory of Women in Trades and Services – Online you will also have the opportunity to obtain membership of our online community resources including a chat room, discussion forum, events calendar and links page.
So, if you don't wish to remain hidden in telephone and business directories, join this exciting venture and take advantage of the public who wish to employ women to complete the work they need doing!
